Do you dream about having a beautiful home landscape or have a specific landscape project in mind, but don't know how to get started? Whether professionally designed or not, it's fair to say most landscapes start out with good intentions. This day-long workshop is your opportunity to learn the theory and basic principles of sustainable landscape design and how to avoid the mistakes that are commonly made by novices and professionals alike. The curriculum is comprehensive and has been specifically developed to allow participants to practice their technique by designing a residential landscape case study (materials are provided for students).

Technology requirements

We will be hosting the workshop in Zoom. You will need a computer with a reliable high-speed internet connection to participate in the training. While Zoom is available for mobile devices,   the app functionality is limited and does not support all the engagement tools used during virtual training. Therefore, we strongly recommend using a computer to participate in the workshop.

TRAINING MATERIALS
A class packet of drawing tools and other materials will be mailed to you in late April, and the link to the Google site will be emailed to you on  May 1st, the day before the class. The class materials and tools are yours to keep.

Instructors: Julie Weisenhorn, University of Minnesota Extension horticulture educator, and Jim Calkins, landscape horticulturist and former landscape design and management instructor at the University of Minnesota.
